Message from Dr. Owais Ahmad (IAS) , District Development Commissioner, Bandipore

I am happy to learn that Bandipore District had launched a Panchayat Development index, in the month of December 2019 and phase II of this maiden innovative project viz “Dashboard for real time monitoring of outcome indicators” is being formally launched now. This would be a great excitement to be associated with this project after assuming charge of the District in May 2020. To witness the index expanding its horizon across all Panchayats of Bandipore District keeps one motivated towards it.

Any pioneering effort requires continuous intervention for sustenance so that it serves the objectives envisaged for capturing overall achievement in the social and economic dimensions at grass root level. This shall help in further improving the applicability of index and broaden the spectrum of monitoring the flagship schemes in the entire District.

The most important part of Panchayat Development Index is that weaker Panchayats get identified easily with respect to key outcome indicators and policy planners will re-strategize and focus in these areas to help in real transformation of these Panchayats.

I am hopeful that District after fighting the Covid-19 successfully, will make optimum use of PDI in delivering maximum.
